Maruti Suzuki To Equip All Cars With Six Airbags By End Of 2025

Maruti Suzuki will make six airbags a standard feature across its entire lineup by the end of 2025. This decision highlights the increasing importance of vehicle safety.

Chairman RC Bhargava confirmed that virtually all Maruti Suzuki cars will have six airbags this year. This move aligns with the government's desire to enhance safety in all vehicles.

Every variant of every Maruti model, from budget hatchbacks to premium SUVs, will offer the same level of airbag protection. Affordable models like Alto K10, Celerio, Wagon R, and Eeco have already been retrofitted with six airbags.

Six current Maruti models still lack standard side and curtain airbags: Baleno, Fronx, Ignis, Ertiga, XL6, and S-Presso. The Fronx and Baleno already feature six airbags in their higher trims, but entry-level variants will soon follow suit.

Prices are expected to climb, similar to the Celerio's price increase of up to Rs 32,500 after its update. Maruti Suzuki had previously voiced concerns about the cost implications of government-mandated airbag norms.

The 4th-generation Maruti Dzire earned a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection from Global NCAP. The company hopes that the inclusion of six airbags, along with other safety features, will significantly improve safety scores across its models.
