Ahmedabad-based Matter Motor Works has launched its geared electric motorcycle, AERA, in Delhi.

The company plans to introduce a new model annually for the next three years.

Matter Motor Works aims to establish up to 60 dealerships across India this fiscal year, with a significant presence in South India.

The AERA is the world's first geared electric motorcycle, featuring a 4-speed manual transmission, a liquid-cooled powertrain, and a 5 kWh battery pack.

It offers a claimed range of up to 172 km on a single charge and accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in under 2.8 seconds.

The motorcycle is available in two variants: AERA 5000 and AERA 5000+, priced at ₹1.74 lakh and ₹1.84 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

Following its initial launch in Bengaluru, Matter Motor Works plans to expand the AERA's availability to eight additional cities over the next 45 days, including Pune, Chennai, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Jaipur, Surat, and Rajkot.

Pre-bookings are open on the company's official website and Flipkart, with early bird incentives offered to attract initial customers.

Matter Motor Works intends to close around 10,000 vehicle sales in the first year, with projections of 50,000 to 60,000 vehicles in the second year.

The manufacturing unit in Ahmedabad has a capacity to produce 10,000 units per month.

The company has utilized up to $80 million in funds already raised and plans to raise an additional $200 million in the next couple of years.

The AERA has received awards like "Editors' Choice Electric Motorcycle of the Year" from Top Gear India and "EV Bike of the Year 2025" from ACKO Drive.
