Mercedes-AMG Targets Electric Hypercar Performance in 2025 with New AMG.EA Platform

Edited by: Tetiana Pinchuk Pinchuk

Mercedes-AMG is intensifying its focus on the electric hypercar category, setting its sights on rivals like the Porsche Taycan. The company is developing a fully electric fastback designed to compete directly with high-performance EVs, utilizing cutting-edge technology and design.

The new model will be built on the AMG.EA (AMG Electric Architecture) platform, which is developed exclusively for AMG. This platform will also underpin a new electric SUV, offering design flexibility and showcasing the technology in a practical package. Prototypes are currently undergoing testing, with the first models expected to launch in late 2025 or early 2026.

The electric motors, developed by Yasa (a Mercedes subsidiary), will use axial-flux technology, offering a compact design and high power/torque density. These motors are expected to deliver exceptional performance, potentially exceeding 1,500 horsepower in top configurations. This strategic shift towards electric vehicles emphasizes Mercedes' commitment to offering electric options across its lineup, with the new AMG models leading the charge.
