Volkswagen presented three new concepts at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025, designed for the Chinese market. These concepts aim to help Volkswagen regain ground against Chinese rivals. The company plans to launch 30 new models in China by the end of 2027, with 20 being hybrid or fully electric. Volkswagen ID.ERA, co-created with SAIC, is a large SUV with three rows of seats. This electric model features a gasoline generator to power the battery, achieving a total range of 1,000 km (300 km electric, 700 km generator). The ID.EVO, another large electric SUV developed with Anhui, targets younger buyers. It is built on an 800V electric architecture. This SUV features a more dynamic design compared to the ID.ERA. Lastly, the ID.AURA, an electric sedan made with FAW, uses the Compact Main Platform (CMP) with zonal electronic architecture. Its AI-based automated driving system enhances intelligent driving. All production models derived from these concepts will feature Level 2 autonomous driving.
