Nvidia plans to build its first artificial intelligence (AI) cloud platform in Germany for industrial applications. The announcement was made by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at the VivaTech conference.
The platform aims to serve automakers like Mercedes and BMW. It will provide technology for various processes, from product design simulation to logistics management.
Nvidia intends to establish 20 AI factories across Europe. These factories will be large infrastructures designed for developing, training, and launching AI models. Deutsche Telekom is involved in the project, with the first 10,000 graphic processors to be manufactured in the operator's existing data centers.
German leaders have welcomed the initiative. They see it as crucial for the country's innovative strength and digital sovereignty. The government plans to promote the construction of large data centers to support the AI transition. They aim to secure up to 100,000 chips with a 35% state subsidy.
The European Commission revealed plans to allocate $20 billion for building AI data centers. This is part of an effort to compete with China and the United States in the AI sector.
