Genoa, Italy - The Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) has created iRonCub3, the world's first humanoid robot equipped with jet propulsion. This innovative robot is designed for emergency rescue operations.
iRonCub3 features four JetCat P250 Pro-S jet engines, two on its arms and two on a jetpack. This configuration allows it to generate over 1000 Newtons of thrust, enabling it to lift off the ground.
The robot weighs about 70 kg and has a titanium "spine" to withstand the forces and high temperatures from the jet exhausts. Researchers are currently testing iRonCub3 at the IIT in Genoa to improve its flight and manipulation capabilities for complex rescue scenarios.
