Google Updates Gemini 2.5 Family with New Flash-Lite Model

Google has officially updated its Gemini 2.5 family of AI models, launching stable versions of Gemini 2.5 Pro and Gemini 2.5 Flash, while also introducing a new lightweight model called Flash-Lite. Gemini 2.5 Pro remains the most powerful option, built for complex, compute-intensive tasks. Gemini 2.5 Flash delivers high-speed performance for large-scale, resource-demanding applications, and the newly introduced Flash-Lite is optimized for ultra-fast execution of everyday tasks — such as summarization, image and video captioning, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) — with minimal computational load. Together, the three models — Pro, Flash, and Flash-Lite — offer developers a flexible toolkit to match different needs based on task complexity, hardware constraints, and performance requirements.
