More than 40 top executives from European companies have requested a two-year delay in the implementation of the EU AI Act.
They argue that the current regulations could harm Europe's competitiveness and hinder AI development. The executives, including leaders from ASML Holding NV, Airbus SE, and Mistral AI, signed an open letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The signatories emphasize that delaying the AI Act would signal a more innovation-friendly regulatory environment in Europe. They urge the Commission to prioritize the quality of regulation over the speed of implementation to ensure the continent's competitiveness.
