Google is phasing out its Google Assistant in favor of Gemini, a generative AI model.
Launched in 2016, Google Assistant helped users interact with devices more naturally. Google says millions of users have embraced Gemini, citing positive feedback as the reason for the shift. The transition will occur over the next few months, affecting mobile phones, tablets, headsets, watches, and cars.
Google Assistant will eventually be removed from the Play Store.
Google plans to add Gemini-powered features to speakers and Android TVs.
The Gemini app is now available in over 40 languages and 200 countries, offering a broader range of features than Google Assistant.
