The Cadillac Formula 1 Team has officially received approval from the FIA and Formula 1 to join the championship grid in 2026. This marks a significant milestone as the team, backed by General Motors (GM) and TWG Motorsports, becomes the 11th competitor in the sport. The announcement follows months of assessments and constructive engagement between GM, TWG, and Formula 1 management. The team's entry aligns with the new FIA 2026 regulations, which are expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the sport. Cadillac F1 will initially utilize Ferrari engines before transitioning to its own power units by 2028. Graeme Lowdon, former Marussia team boss, will serve as Team Principal, while Russ O'Blenes is appointed CEO of TWG GM Performance Power Units. TWG Motorsports has assembled a team of over 300 individuals, focusing on aerodynamics, chassis development, and simulation. The team's operations span across multiple locations, including Indianapolis, Charlotte, Warren, and Silverstone. Mario Andretti, the 1978 F1 world champion, will serve as an advisor to the team.
