The Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) final is scheduled for Saturday evening in Basel. The broadcast and streaming will commence at 9 PM. Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer, who hosted the semi-finals, will be joined by Michelle Hunziker for the final show.
Thorsten Schorn will provide commentary for the German television audience. He succeeded Peter Urban in 2024, who covered the competition for ARD for 25 years. A total of 37 countries participated in this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Basel.
Ten entries from each semi-final qualified for the final on May 17. These are joined by Switzerland as the host country and the "Big Five": Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. All 37 participating countries will award points in the final, regardless of whether their entry is still in the competition.
Each country distributes a total of 116 points, with 58 points from a national jury and 58 points from public voting. Both the jury and the public allocate their points using the same system. Each national jury announces its points live, with only the 12 points being announced individually.
The remaining jury points appear automatically on the scoreboard. The results of the public vote are then compiled and announced for each country in ascending order of the jury ranking. This often creates suspense, as the ranking can change significantly.
Bookmakers currently place Germany in 16th position out of 26 finalists. The calculated chance of winning is 1 percent.
