Jennie's 'Ruby' Album: A Collaboration with Mike WiLL Made-It and Ear Drummers

Edited by: Inna Horoshkina One

K-pop star Jennie collaborated with producer Mike WiLL Made-It and his Ear Drummers team to create her debut solo album, 'Ruby,' released on March 7, 2025, by Odd Atelier and Columbia Records. The collaboration began after Jennie's team invited Mike WiLL Made-It and producer PLUSS to a songwriting camp in Los Angeles. Mike WiLL Made-It envisioned Jennie working directly with his team in his Los Angeles studio. He noted that Jennie, having spent her career in a group, had a vision for her solo sound but needed help articulating it. During late-night sessions, Jennie and the Ear Drummer crew crafted R&B tracks that define 'Ruby,' including "Zen," "Seoul City," "F.T.S.," "Starlight," and "Damn Right." Mike WiLL Made-It saw the collaboration as an opportunity to help Jennie discover her individual voice beyond her group persona. The FADER spoke with Mike WiLL Made-It and six other producers from the Ear Drummers team – Melz, PLUSS, 30 Roc, RESOURCE, MGFMYLES and True Beatzz – about their roles in shaping Jennie's solo sound.
