Preity Zinta Denies Loan Write-Off Allegations Amid Bank Fraud Controversy

Actress Preity Zinta has publicly refuted allegations made by the Kerala unit of the Indian National Congress, claiming she benefited from a loan write-off from the troubled New India Cooperative Bank. The Congress unit insinuated Zinta relinquished control of her social media accounts to the BJP in exchange for the alleged financial favor. Zinta vehemently denied the claims, stating the loan was fully repaid over a decade ago. She labeled the allegations as "fake news" and expressed shock at a political party promoting misinformation. Following Zinta's strong rebuttal, Congress Kerala adopted a more conciliatory tone, acknowledging potential errors based on media reports. Mumbai Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) clarified their investigation focuses on the bank's embezzlement case, not Zinta's loan. The EOW stated they would investigate any formal complaint regarding bad loans with evidence. The New India Cooperative Bank is under scrutiny for a ₹122 crore embezzlement, leading to arrests and restrictions by the Reserve Bank of India.
