Cannes film festival kicks off with glamour and anticipation

The Cannes Film Festival has officially begun, rolling out the red carpet for the world's film elite. The 78th edition of this prestigious event promises to be the most spectacular in years, celebrating cinema on the French Riviera.

Festival president Iris Knobloch and artistic director Thierry Frémaux have announced a star-studded lineup, including films featuring Emma Stone, Tom Cruise, and Jodie Foster. Scarlett Johansson and Tom Hanks are also expected to grace the event. Robert De Niro will receive the honorary Palme d'Or for his lifetime achievement.

Berlin director Mascha Schilinski's film "In die Sonne schauen" is competing for the coveted Palme d'Or. Organizers have issued a dress code emphasizing decorum, prohibiting nudity and voluminous outfits to ensure smooth traffic and seating arrangements. The festival is set to run for two weeks.
