Scarlett Johansson's directorial debut, 'Eleanor the Great,' is set to premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in the 'Un Certain Regard' section. The film stars June Squibb as Eleanor Morgenstein, a 90-year-old woman from Florida who moves to New York City and forms an unexpected bond with a 19-year-old student. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jessica Hecht, and Erin Kellyman also star in supporting roles. Johansson directs from a script by Tory Kamen. The film is produced by Maven Screen Media and TriStar Pictures, with Sony Pictures Classics handling global distribution. Hélène Louvart, known for her work on 'Never Rarely Sometimes Always,' is the cinematographer. Filming wrapped up in April 2024, with locations including Coney Island and Times Square. 'Eleanor the Great' is one of several debut features at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Harris Dickinson will also premiere his first directorial effort, 'Urchin.' The 78th Cannes Film Festival is scheduled from May 13 to 24.
