The 78th Cannes Film Festival has announced its Official Selection, featuring a diverse lineup of films set to compete for the Palme d'Or. The festival will open on May 13, 2025, with 'Leave One Day,' a debut film by French director Amelie Bonin. Several highly anticipated films are included in the selection. Ari Aster's 'Eddington,' a Western starring Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone, is among the competitors. Wes Anderson's 'The Phoenician Scheme,' featuring Benicio Del Toro, will also premiere at the festival. Richard Linklater's French film, 'Nouvelle Vague,' which focuses on the making of Jean-Luc Godard's 'Breathless,' is another notable entry. Julia Ducournau, Palme d'Or winner for 'Titane,' returns with 'Alpha,' set in 1980s New York and addressing the AIDS epidemic. Jochim Trier will present 'Sentimental Value,' starring Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, and Elle Fanning. The festival runs through May 24, 2025.
