Dua Lipa, accompanied by Callum Turner, attended the Met Gala 2025 wearing a custom Chanel ensemble. This look required over 2,000 hours of work. Lipa has consistently made a statement at the Met Gala throughout the years.
For the 2025 gala, Dua Lipa collaborated with Chanel and her stylist, Lorenzo Posocco. They created a bespoke outfit aligned with the theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." The ensemble featured a black chiffon dress with an open back and a large bow.
The outfit also included a tweed jacket with black sequins and an organza cape. The entire look was adorned with crystals, pearls, and feathers, involving 45,000 embroidered elements. The inspiration for the design was Josephine Baker, the renowned dancer and civil rights activist.
Posocco explained that Baker embodied the spirit of dandyism, reflecting femininity and fearless expression. The dress's embroidered corset was inspired by an image that captivated Lipa during her research with Vogue collaborator Eric McNeal. The jacket evoked Baker's blend of masculine and feminine styles.
Dua Lipa's connection with Chanel spans back to 2014, when she purchased her first Chanel Boy bag. She has since showcased the brand's designs on tours and red carpets. This includes a chain dress originally designed for Christy Turlington in Spring-Summer 1992, which she wore as a bodysuit during her Radical Optimism tour.
