Met gala 2024: celebrities honor black fashion legacy

The 2024 Met Gala, celebrated the opening of the Costume Institute's spring exhibition, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The theme paid homage to over 300 years of Black fashion, black dandyism, and its influence on contemporary style. Vogue editor Anna Wintour selected celebrities as co-chairs, including ASAP Rocky, Sir Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, and Colman Domingo.

Rihanna, revealed her second pregnancy during the 2023 Super Bowl half-time show, wore a Marc Jacobs dress highlighting her baby bump. ASAP Rocky, also a co-chair, sported a custom AWGE look with a diamond-studded umbrella. Zendaya arrived in a custom Louis Vuitton suit, while Dua Lipa wore a glitzy Chanel dress.

Diana Ross made her first Met Gala appearance in 22 years, wearing an outfit with an 18-foot train embroidered with her family's names. Stevie Wonder, making his Met Gala debut, emphasized the importance of love and unity. Megan Thee Stallion's diamond-studded hairstyle paid tribute to Josephine Baker.

Suits were prominent, with Doechii in Louis Vuitton and Cardi B alongside Halle Berry in Burberry. Gigi Hadid honored Zelda Wynn Valdes in Miu Miu. The Kardashian-Jenner clan arrived in all-black, with Kendall Jenner in Torisheju Dumi, Kim Kardashian in Chrome Hearts, and Kylie Jenner with Ferragamo designer Maximilian Davis.
