Revolutionary Face Projection Technology Enhances AR Experiences in Beauty and Fashion Industries

Edited by: Екатерина С.

Researchers at the Institute of Science have introduced a new Dynamic Face Projection Mapping (DFPM) technology, significantly improving the accuracy and speed of augmented reality (AR) applications. This development allows for more realistic visual effects in the beauty, fashion, and makeup industries. DFPM projects images directly onto a person's face, adapting to their movements in real-time.

The new method uses parallel processing of two technologies. The first, based on the Ensemble of Regression Trees (ERT) algorithm, ensures fast data processing. The second, more detailed model, corrects errors and complex situations. This combination achieves a speed of 0.107 milliseconds with high accuracy.

Additionally, a specialized projector-camera with a lens movement mechanism minimizes alignment errors, ensuring accuracy within 1.274 pixels at distances from 1 to 2 meters. This innovation promises to enhance virtual try-on experiences and other AR applications in the fashion and beauty sectors.
