Seven Planets Align in Rare 'Planetary Parade' on February 28, 2025

Edited by: Uliana S.

On February 28, 2025, a rare celestial event occurred as seven planets in the solar system aligned in what is known as a 'planetary parade.' Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune appeared together in the sky. This alignment is due to the planets orbiting the Sun in roughly the same plane, called the ecliptic. While not a perfect straight line, the planets appeared close together from Earth's perspective. Four planets - Saturn, Venus, Jupiter and Mars - were visible to the naked eye. Observers needed a telescope to view Uranus, Neptune and Mercury. The next similar event is not expected until 2492.
