On February 28, 2024, a rare alignment of seven planets – Saturn, Venus, Neptune, Uranus, Jupiter, Mars, and Mercury – will occur, positioning them on the same side of the sun. This planetary parade is made more unique by the formation of a 'kite' shape, created by the planets' positions relative to the sun, Sirius, and Orion. According to the Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation (CSEO), the next occurrence of a similar shape may not happen for tens of thousands, if not millions, of years. Five planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) will be visible without optical aid. Neptune requires a telescope, while Uranus is best viewed with one. The alignment will be visible approximately 45 minutes after sunset, with Venus visible for one to two hours and other planets remaining visible throughout the night. The kite shape will be deconstructed after February as daylight increases and Mars and Jupiter move.
