Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in Buenos Aires province, Argentina, leading to the evacuation of thousands. The extreme weather event, described as "five times greater than normal" for May, impacted the northern part of the province, Buenos Aires city, and its metropolitan area.
Authorities reported that nearly 3,000 people were evacuated across 21 municipalities. Search efforts are underway for three missing individuals. The National Meteorological Service had issued a red alert, recording rainfall between 150 and 250 mm in some areas.
While water levels are receding, communities are beginning the cleanup process. Emergency operations are underway, providing essential supplies to those affected. This event marks the second major climate-related disaster to hit Buenos Aires province in just over two months.
