Madiun constructs emergency flood barrier to protect park

Edited by: Anna 🌎 Krasko

In response to potential flooding during the rainy season, the Madiun City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in East Java has swiftly constructed an emergency embankment. The embankment is located in the Bantaran Traffic Park area, specifically on the northern side of the off-road track.

This action follows a previous incident where water overflowed and flooded the park due to the lack of adequate physical barriers. Without the embankment, water from nearby channels and rivers is highly susceptible to overflowing.

The temporary embankment was built using approximately 4,000 sandbags. The bags are arranged lengthwise from the west side to the east end of the park, near the fishing area. The BPBD hopes this construction will be able to hold back the water and prevent the spread of puddles in the park area and the surrounding environment.
