Iraq Heatwave: Temperatures Soar to 45°C in Baghdad, June 2025

The Iraqi Meteorological Organization has issued warnings about an intense heatwave affecting the country. The extreme heat is expected to bring high levels of ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

Temperatures in Baghdad are currently reaching 40°C (104°F) on June 21, 2025, and are forecast to climb to 45°C (113°F) in the coming days. The heat will be most severe during the day, particularly in central and southern regions.

Citizens are advised to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, increase fluid intake, and stay updated on weather forecasts for any changes. The first summer heatwave is expected to peak on June 13, with temperatures potentially reaching 52°C (125.6°F) in the southern region.
