Egypt is currently experiencing a severe heatwave, particularly affecting southern regions, with temperatures soaring well above seasonal averages. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority forecasts that Cairo could reach a high of 39 degrees Celsius.
Humidity levels are also significantly high, exacerbating the heat. Coastal areas are seeing humidity levels nearing 90%, while Cairo is experiencing around 80%. This combination of high temperatures and humidity is expected to make conditions feel several degrees hotter.
The public is advised to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak hours. They are also advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against heatstroke and sunstroke.
