Southeastern Australia is bracing for frosty conditions as a high-pressure system extends from Tasmania to Queensland. On Friday, July 4, 2025, clear skies are expected to bring temperatures down to around -1°C in parts of Victoria. This will lead to widespread frost across the region.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a frost warning for multiple forecast districts, including Mallee, Wimmera, and Northern Country. Ground-level temperatures could be significantly lower than those recorded by standard weather stations. This is particularly true under calm conditions with clear skies.
In contrast, Perth is set to experience clear skies following Thursday's storms, which brought much-needed rain. Approximately 50mm of rainfall is expected, although the rain gauge is currently broken. On-shore winds may bring showers to southern parts of Western Australia's coast.
Across the nation, Perth and Adelaide will be partly cloudy with highs around 19°C. Melbourne and Hobart will have similar conditions with temperatures in the mid-teens. Canberra is expecting a cold start with lows of -2°C and highs of 12°C, while Sydney will reach a cool high of 18°C. Brisbane is forecasted to have clear and sunny conditions with a high of 21°C, and Darwin is expected to be partly cloudy with a high of 29°C.
