An earthquake struck the Campi Flegrei area near Naples, Italy, today. The quake occurred at 12:10 PM with a magnitude of 4.4. The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) located the epicenter in the Gulf of Pozzuoli.
The University of Federico II in Naples was evacuated as a precaution. Students quickly exited the building after the alarm system activated. The earthquake, at a depth of three kilometers, was felt in several districts of Naples.
A second tremor, measuring magnitude 3.5, followed at 12:22 PM, according to the INGV.
