Lewotobi Laki-laki Volcano Erupts, Spewing Ash 300 Meters High

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in Flores Timur, East Nusa Tenggara, erupted on May 11, 2025, at 20:17 WITA. The eruption sent an ash column approximately 300 meters above the summit, reaching about 1,884 meters above sea level.

The eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 2.9 millimeters and lasted approximately one minute and 55 seconds. The ash column was observed to be gray with a thick intensity, leaning towards the north and northeast.

Currently, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Alert Level III (Siaga). The public and visitors are advised not to engage in any activities within a 6 km radius of the eruption center.
