Delhi experienced its hottest day of the year on Monday, accompanied by the warmest night in six years. The city's base weather station, Safdarjung, recorded a maximum temperature of 41.3°C, four degrees above normal.
This marks the highest maximum temperature recorded in April over the past three years. The minimum temperature offered little respite, settling at 26.2°C, also four degrees above normal. This was the highest minimum temperature in April in six years, matching the reading on April 14, 2022.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a slight rise in temperature over the next few days. Maximum temperatures could reach 42°C by April 24.
