A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Los Santos, Santander, Colombia on April 18th at 03:48 a.m. local time. The Colombian Geological Service reported the event. The earthquake had a superficial depth.

No damages were reported. Colombia is a seismically active country due to the interaction of several tectonic plates. These plates include the Nazca, South American, and Caribbean plates.

This interaction creates a complex geological dynamic, resulting in earthquakes across much of the country. On average, Colombia experiences approximately 2,500 earthquakes per month. Most of these are imperceptible to the population.
