Kanlaon Volcano Shows Increased Activity, Negros Island, April 15, 2025

On April 15, 2025, Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island recorded at least three ash emission events lasting from 41 to 253 minutes. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) documented 33 volcanic earthquakes, including five volcanic tremors lasting between eight and 23 minutes. Sulfur dioxide flux measured 1,850 tons on April 14, 2025, creating an 800-meter plume drifting west-northwest and west. PHIVOLCS reports the volcano edifice is inflated. Alert Level 3 remains in effect.
