Saharan Dust Cloud to Affect Central Europe Weather on March 21

Edited by: Anna 🌎 Krasko

A significant Saharan dust cloud is en route to Central Europe, expected to arrive in western Germany by March 21. The German Weather Service (DWD) forecasts that the dust will alter the sky's appearance, making it appear milky rather than deep blue.

Meteorologists anticipate a widespread hazy veil across Germany in the coming days, potentially coloring the sky orange to red. The dust may also lead to "blood rain" due to predicted precipitation.

Earlier in the week, Greece experienced record-high March temperatures, partly attributed to Saharan dust. The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service warns that Saharan dust can affect human health, potentially worsening allergies, and impact solar energy generation.
