Edited by: Inna Horoshkina One

Global marine scientists, researchers, policymakers, and industry experts will convene in Kochi for the 4th International Marine Ecosystem Conference (MECOS-4) from November 4-6, 2025. Organized by the Marine Biological Association of India (MBAI) in association with the CMFRI, the symposium will address critical issues facing marine ecosystems, including climate change, rising sea temperatures, and extreme weather events. The aim is to develop a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable marine fisheries and aquaculture methods.

Dr. Grinson George, Director of CMFRI and President of MBAI, emphasized the urgent need for united action against increasing threats to marine ecosystems due to global warming. Discussions will focus on ecosystem and biodiversity conservation, sustainable fisheries and mariculture, climate and environment resilience, and products, value chain, and livelihood. Research on marine mammals and sea birds will also receive special attention.

MECOS-4 will provide a platform for emerging marine researchers and students to showcase their work. The conference will also feature a fish, agri, and marine expo, where research institutions and industries will exhibit their innovations and products, promoting sustainable ocean management and conservation. Researchers below the age of 35 have the opportunity to win Young Marine Biologist Awards for their presentations.
