Pico Paraná State Park Hosts Volunteer Clean-Up to Protect Native Flora - May 18 June 1, 2025

Edited by: Anulyazolotko Anulyazolotko

The Instituto Água e Terra (IAT) is organizing a major clean-up event at Pico Paraná State Park on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Located between Campina Grande do Sul and Antonina, the park will host IAT technicians and volunteers who will work together to remove litter from the park's peaks and trails.

The clean-up will commence at 7:20 AM, with participants gathering at the park's base before dividing into groups to cover as much of the environmental complex as possible. Volunteers are encouraged to bring insect repellent, sunscreen, comfortable clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Bringing water and light snacks is also recommended, while ensuring no waste is left behind in the park.

This effort is essential for preserving the park's diverse flora, which includes shrubs, orchids, and trees exceeding 30 meters in height. The park is home to native flora and fauna, including endangered species like jaguars and cougars. The clean-up campaign will be repeated on June 1st, during Environment Week, in celebration of World Environment Day on June 5th. Participation is free, and prior registration is not required.
