On June 19, 2025, in commemoration of Tree Day, Professor Lidia Pérez de Molas and Dr. Fátima Mereles launched the guide "100 Trees of the Cerrado of Paraguay." This publication identifies native tree species within the Cerrado, a critically endangered ecosystem.

The event, held at the Scientific Society of Paraguay, underscored the importance of recognizing and protecting this vital ecoregion. The guide, backed by the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences of the National University of Asunción (FCA/UNA) and WWF-Paraguay, aims to promote knowledge and conservation efforts.

The Cerrado, comprising savannas, grasslands, and seasonal forests, faces threats from deforestation and unplanned land use. The guide serves as a crucial tool for students, professionals, and anyone interested in the flora of this valuable region, emphasizing the urgent need for restoration and protection.
