In Noveleta, Cavite, Philippines, a collaborative effort involving the local government, student volunteers, and various stakeholders has resulted in the planting of 600 mangrove seedlings in the town's Mangrove Protected Area. The three-day activity, coinciding with Arbor Day, saw participation from the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies (AIMS), public schools, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Philippine National Police. Mangrove forests are crucial for coastal protection, preventing erosion, reducing flooding, and providing habitats for diverse flora and fauna. Common mangrove species planted include Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Avicennia marina, and Sonneratia alba. The Noveleta Mangrove Forest covers approximately 64.2 hectares.
