The Liberec Botanical Garden in the Czech Republic is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year, though its roots trace back to 1876. Originally founded by the Society of Friends of Nature, the garden was relocated to its current location in Purkyňova Street due to the construction of the North Bohemian Museum. The garden boasts over 9,000 plant species, including five of the oldest camellias in Europe and a large collection of orchids and carnivorous plants. Its glasshouse complex, built between 1995 and 2000, houses 13 botanical themes. A pavilion added in 2014 showcases the Victoria amazonica, Victoria cruziana, and Euryale ferox water lilies. The garden also features large aquariums with coral reefs and flora from South African lakes and the Amazon basin. Visitor numbers have been increasing, reaching a 15-year high in 2023 with 76,608 visitors.
