Chiang Mai University (CMU) is leveraging research and technology to restore the biodiversity of Doi Suthep, a culturally and economically significant mountain in Thailand. The Forest Restoration Research Unit (FORRU-CMU), established in response to alarming deforestation rates, employs ecologists and students to develop and implement forest restoration techniques. Key methods include analyzing forest ecosystems, storing seeds, and utilizing drone technology for monitoring and future seeding efforts. Furthermore, CMU's Doi Suthep Nature Centre serves as an educational hub, promoting environmental awareness and conservation through exhibitions, a seed bank, and various activities for all ages. The university's efforts aim to ensure the sustainability of Doi Suthep's natural resources while also preserving its cultural legacy.
