Archaeologists Unearth 'Los Abuelos': A 3,000-Year-Old Mayan City in Guatemala

Archaeologists from Guatemala and Slovakia announced the discovery of 'Los Abuelos' (Spanish for 'The Grandfathers') in May 2025. The ancient Mayan city is located approximately 21 kilometers from Uaxactún, a well-known archaeological site. The city is situated in the Petén department of northern Guatemala.
