Ed Sheeran has voiced doubts about performing solo at the Super Bowl halftime show, suggesting a collaboration, particularly with Beyoncé, would be his preferred option. In a recent interview on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast on April 8, 2025, Sheeran explained that he doesn't feel his catalog has the 'pizzazz' needed for a Super Bowl performance, referencing his more low-key songs like 'The A-Team' and 'Perfect.' He noted that while some British artists bring the necessary fireworks and dancers to such a show, he envisions himself better suited as a featured performer alongside someone like Beyoncé. Sheeran stated that performing 'Perfect' with Beyoncé in a show where she headlines with spectacular elements would 'make sense' to him. Sheeran has collaborated with Beyoncé before, including a duet version of 'Perfect' in 2017 and a performance of Beyoncé's 'Drunk in Love' at the Global Citizen Festival in 2015. He is currently promoting his new album, 'Play,' and is scheduled to perform at the Coachella festival.
