Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has significantly increased its Bitcoin holdings, purchasing an additional 68.59 BTC for approximately $6.6 million at an average price of $96,335 per Bitcoin. This acquisition brings their total holdings to 2,100 BTC. Announced recently, this move aligns with Metaplanet's ambitious goal to accumulate 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by 2026. The company plans to use internal cash and raise capital through equity and debt offerings to support this expansion. Following the purchase, Metaplanet's stock price saw a 2.78% increase, indicating investor confidence in their Bitcoin strategy. Metaplanet's approach mirrors that of Strategy, which holds approximately 480,000 BTC and plans to raise an additional $2 billion to further increase its Bitcoin reserves. Metaplanet views Bitcoin as a hedge against economic volatility, positioning itself as a key player in corporate cryptocurrency adoption.
