Pang led a team of approximately 100 engineers at Apple. They were responsible for developing large language models for features like Apple Intelligence and Siri.
Meta, under CEO Mark Zuckerberg, offered Pang a compensation package reportedly worth tens of millions of dollars annually. Zhifeng Chen will now lead Apple's foundation models team.
