Google Cloud has launched its first African region in South Africa, joining a global network spanning over 200 countries. The initiative is projected to contribute $2.1 billion to South Africa's GDP and create over 40,000 jobs by 2030. This move aims to position South Africa at the forefront of Africa's technological advancement, with the continent's internet economy expected to reach $180 billion by 2025. Google South Africa has also invested in training programs covering AI, machine learning, and digital marketing. Furthermore, it will enhance support for African startups through initiatives like the Black Founders Fund Africa and Google for Startups Accelerator Africa, which have collectively raised over $263 million and created 2,800 jobs.
