Rare Grateful Dead Acid Test Poster, Announcing Band's First Show After Name Change, Up for Auction

Edited by: alya_ myart

A rare, hand-drawn poster advertising the Grateful Dead's first performance after changing their name from the Warlocks is up for auction at Heritage Auctions. The poster, created with crayons, promotes Ken Kesey's "Acid Test" event on December 4, 1965, in San Jose, California. The poster was obtained from two sisters who took guitar lessons from a young Bob Weir when he was still with the Warlocks. They acquired the poster but left the event due to the arrival of the Merry Pranksters. The poster is a unique piece of Grateful Dead history, marking a pivotal moment in the band's early career and the burgeoning psychedelic scene.
