A collection of paintings by the late Scottish artist John Byrne, including a rare depiction of The Beatles, is set to be auctioned in the UK. The Beatles painting, created in 1969, portrays each member with a 'spirit animal' and Yoko Ono in a crystal ball held by John Lennon. This piece, along with nine other early Byrne works, was acquired by Father Tom Jamieson, a local priest, in the early 1970s. The auction, managed by Lyon & Turnbull, will take place live and online on April 2nd. Byrne befriended Father Jamieson in Renfrew, bonding over their shared love for music and culture. The priest supported Byrne by purchasing his art directly from his studio. The sale also features a painting commissioned by Donovan for his album 'HMS Donovan.' The 'Beatles' painting is estimated to sell for £10,000 to £15,000.
