Rare "Mediterranean Blue" Diamond Expected to Fetch $20 Million at Sotheby's Geneva Auction

A stunning 10.03-carat "Mediterranean Blue" diamond is set to headline Sotheby's upcoming Magnificent Jewels auction in Geneva on May 13th. The Fancy Vivid Blue, cushion-cut gem, estimated to be worth around $20 million, will be previewed in Abu Dhabi on April 8th at the Bassam Freiha Art Foundation. This exceptional stone, classified as a Type IIb diamond, representing only 0.5% of all natural diamonds, was meticulously crafted from a 31.94-carat rough diamond unearthed in South Africa's Cullinan mine in 2023. Its intense blue hue and VS2 clarity, certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), make it an incredibly rare and highly sought-after treasure. Experts say that diamonds with such characteristics are a discovery worthy of celebration.
