Kim Kardashian Acquires Princess Diana's Iconic Cross Necklace for $196,453

The iconic Cross of Attallah, once a prized piece in Princess Diana's jewelry collection, has been sold to reality star Kim Kardashian for $196,453 at a recent auction.

The necklace, adorned with amethyst and diamonds, was famously worn by Princess Diana during a notable appearance. Kardashian showcased the piece in a photo shared by Lex Roach, wearing it alongside a custom Maison Martin Margiela gown, presumably for the upcoming Met Gala 2024.

The necklace was loaned to Diana by her friend Naeem Attallah, who purchased it in the 1980s. According to Naeem, Diana was the only person ever to wear the necklace publicly, making its sale particularly significant. He recalled, “When I was growing up, we always placed it on the table for Christmas lunch, but no one else wore it.”

Christian Spofforth, head of jewelry at Sotheby’s, noted that this piece marked a turning point in Diana's fashion choices, reflecting her growing confidence. “Rarely do we see jewelry owned or worn by the late Princess Diana come to market, especially a piece like the Cross of Attallah,” he stated. Diana famously donned the necklace at various royal events, including a charity gala in 1987, paired with a dress by Catherine Walker.
