Lake Balaton Boating Season Kicks Off

Edited by: Елена 11

The peak boating season on Lake Balaton, often called the Hungarian Sea, began on July 5, 2025. BAHART, the main operator, introduced new routes, expanded schedules, and attractive discounts to enhance the lake's appeal to vacationers.

In response to growing demand, BAHART has made travel around the lake more flexible and comfortable. They have expanded services to more towns, allowing more passengers to enjoy all that the lake has to offer. The number of boat departures has significantly increased, especially on the busiest routes.

New direct triangle routes now connect Révfülöp, Balatonboglár, and Balatonlelle, eliminating the need for transfers. Ferry schedules have also been extended, with departures every 30 minutes between Szántódrév and Tihanyrév, making it easier for drivers and cyclists to cross the lake.

BAHART is offering several discounts for the summer season. Families with children aged 6-11 can ride scheduled boats free of charge with a Kajla Passport. Cyclists also benefit from discounted tickets, and free travel options have been expanded for passengers with disabilities.

Entertainment-focused program boats have increased for the high season. These cruises offer a unique experience, transforming boat travel into memorable entertainment. Passenger numbers at the start of summer 2025 were impressive, with over 157,000 people traveling on scheduled boats by the end of June.

Boating remains a popular mode of transportation and a tourist attraction around the lake. The 2025 season promises more sailings, improved services, and discounts, solidifying Lake Balaton's status as a beloved summer getaway.
