Australia is inviting travelers to explore its natural beauty through two new immersive hiking trails on Whitsunday Island and Hinchinbrook Island. These trails offer a unique blend of eco-tourism, cultural storytelling, and sustainable travel.
The Ngaro Track on Whitsunday Island is a 32-kilometer trail, scheduled to be completed. Hikers will have access to the island's rich biodiversity, geological formations, and cultural history. The trail is named after the Ngaro People, the Traditional Owners of the island.
Travelers can embark on a three-day, two-night adventure along the Ngaro Track with Australian Walking Holidays. The experience emphasizes sustainability with eco-sensitive infrastructure and interpretive experiences. The Thorsborne Trail on Hinchinbrook Island is a 32-kilometer route, known as one of Australia's greatest multi-day hikes.
World Expeditions now manages the Thorsborne Trail, offering a four-day, three-night guided trek. This trek was developed in collaboration with the Bandjin and Girramay Peoples, the island's Traditional Owners. The experience emphasizes responsible travel with minimal environmental impact and small group sizes.
These trails represent a shift in how travelers engage with the Whitsundays, inviting them to step into the story of the land. Through partnerships with Traditional Owners, these experiences blend adventure, nature, and Indigenous culture. The Whitsundays are becoming a sanctuary for mindful adventurers, cultural learners, and nature lovers.
