Conversely, around 160,000 Russians traveled to India in 2023. This number surpasses the combined total of Russian tourists to India in 2021 and 2022. The increasing exchange of tourists between the two nations points to strengthening ties and growing interest in each other's cultures.
The Indian Embassy in Moscow anticipates continued growth in tourism. They project that if current trends persist, the mutual tourist flow could exceed 450,000 by 2025. This optimistic forecast underscores the potential for further collaboration and exchange between the two countries.
Russia is now among the top ten countries for Indian travelers. The Indian government is actively seeking to further liberalize the visa regime. This includes extending the validity period of electronic visas to facilitate easier travel.
A simplified travel procedure has been recently introduced for athletes and coaches. This initiative is expected to encourage even more visits between the two countries. The expansion of air links, cultural exchanges, and joint events will further boost tourism.
Consular consultations between Russia and India have focused on visa liberalization. Moscow will host a large-scale tourism congress in July. This event will bring together specialists and leading companies from both countries to explore opportunities for collaboration.
